Terms of use — beta
Plain English, because that's how we do everything here. By using Musopay you agree to these terms. Last updated 25 July 2026 — we're in beta, so they'll be refined (with notice) as the service grows.
What Musopay is
Musopay generates paperwork: bank payment files, super contribution files, audit records and deadline reminders, built from details that musicians enter and consent to share. Musopay never holds or moves money, is not a bank, clearing house, payroll provider or adviser, and nothing in the product — calculations, deadlines, help text — is tax, legal or financial advice.
What stays your responsibility
If you pay musicians through files Musopay generates:
- Your legal obligations stay yours. Super guarantee, payment and record-keeping obligations belong to the payer — Musopay helps you meet them; it doesn't take them over.
- Review before you submit. Check every generated file — names, amounts, accounts — before uploading it to your bank or clearing house. The audit records exist so this takes seconds, not hours.
- Deadlines are calculated conservatively from the information you enter (payment dates especially). Enter the wrong date, get the wrong deadline.
- Your accounts elsewhere are yours — your bank, your clearing house, their terms and their fees.
If you're a musician: keep your details accurate — they flow into payment files exactly as you entered them.
Your account
Sign-in is by email link or passkey; keep your email account and devices secure. Musicians can delete their account at any time (see the privacy page for what that destroys and what survives). Bandleader accounts must verify a real ABN; accounts reported by musicians are frozen pending review; abusive or fraudulent use ends the account.
Money
Charging follows the side of the gig you're on, not who you are. Receiving a fee and super through Musopay is free, permanently, however many gigs you also run yourself. Paying other people is the part an account is charged for, and those accounts are free during beta. Current pricing is always shown on the pricing section and your in-app plan page before anything ever costs money — no surprise charges.
Liability, honestly
We build carefully — checksums on every identifier, encrypted storage, tested file formats, conservative deadlines — and this is beta software provided as-is. To the extent the law allows: Musopay's total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $100 if you've paid nothing); we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for penalties, interest or losses arising from information you or your musicians entered, from files you didn't review before submitting, or from the acts of your bank, clearing house or a super fund. Nothing here excludes rights that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
The boring rest
We can update these terms with reasonable notice (email for material changes). If some part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
